WASHINGTON - Colombia Prepares to Welcome the Americas to Cartagena for the Summit of the Americas. In the wake of the approaching Sixth Summit of the Americas, being held in Cartagena next week, the OAS faces a number of important challenges and opportunities in addressing the most pressing of current hemispheric issues. From the controversial nature of U.S. foreign policy regarding Cuba and Cuba's exclusion from the Summit, to the OAS' continuing role in an increasingly complex region and its relationship with the burgeoning CELAC, the Summit promises to bring intrigue into the discussion on the Americas.
